Collection: Label-Making Tapes

Cartridges and refills for handheld and desktop label makers — Brother TZe, DYMO D1, LetraTag and Rhino, Epson LK and Brady — in laminated, vinyl, flexible nylon and heat-shrink forms from 6 mm to 36 mm.

The cartridge family has to match the machine

Tape families are not interchangeable, and width alone will not tell you. TZe cartridges fit Brother P-touch machines, D1 fits DYMO LabelManager, LetraTag fits only LetraTag, Rhino fits the Rhino industrial range, and Epson's LK tapes fit LabelWorks. A 12 mm D1 cassette will not seat in a P-touch however similar it looks. Identify the machine first, then the family, then the width and colour.

Check the width the machine actually accepts

Tapes here run from 6 mm to 36 mm, but no single machine takes the whole range. Handheld labellers commonly top out at 12 mm or 18 mm, while desktop and industrial machines take 24 mm or 36 mm. A cartridge wider than the machine's rating will not load. Narrow tape is right for cable flags and small assets; wider tape earns its place on shelf edges, plant and door signage where it has to be read at distance.

Laminated tape lasts where paper does not

Brother's TZe tapes are laminated — the print is sealed between layers of film, so it resists abrasion, water, solvents and sunlight, which is why it is the sensible default for anything that will be handled or cleaned. Paper-based tapes such as LetraTag's paper range are cheaper and fine for filing and temporary marking, but ink on the surface will scuff. For outdoor and plant labelling, vinyl is the material to look for. Strong-adhesive variants exist for textured and powder-coated surfaces where standard tape lifts at the corners.

Cable marking needs a different tape, not a smaller one

Heat-shrink tube cartridges print a sleeve that is slid over the conductor and shrunk, which survives pulling through trunking in a way an adhesive flag does not. Flexible nylon tapes are made to wrap round a cable and stick to themselves. Both are specific to the machines that support them.
