Size and resolution together
These two decisions are one decision. Full HD is comfortable up to about 24 inches; past that, text starts to look coarse and you want 1440p or 4K. A 27-inch 1440p screen is the current sweet spot for most desk work. Going to 4K at 27 inches gives noticeably sharper text but usually needs display scaling, which is worth checking against any older application your team relies on.
Panel type
IPS panels give consistent colour and wide viewing angles, which is what you want anywhere two people look at one screen or where colour matters. VA panels give deeper contrast for less money and suit single-user desks. TN panels are fast and cheap but shift colour off-axis; they are rarely the right answer for an office in 2026.
USB-C docking monitors save a dock
A monitor with USB-C power delivery carries video, data and laptop charging over one cable, and often includes an Ethernet port and a USB hub. For a hot-desking or hybrid setup that removes a separate dock from every desk — frequently cheaper overall, and far less to go wrong. Check the wattage matches what the laptop needs to charge under load.
Ergonomics and mounting
Height-adjustable stands are a display screen equipment consideration, not a luxury. Where desk space is tight or you are fitting two or more screens, VESA-compatible models on monitor arms are usually the better answer — see our monitor mounts and stands range.
